MedAngel – Smart Temperature Sensor for Temperature Sensitive Medicines

How does MedAngel work? 
Keep the MedAngel Sensor with your medicines. The sensor records the temperature every 3 minutes and sends this info to the phone if it's in range. If your phone is not near the sensor, the app will automatically load history data from the sensor once you are in Bluetooth range again.   Just place your phone somewhere where the signal strength to the sensor is strong and leave the app open on your phone for a moment while the history updates. If there are several hours of history data, this can take a few minutes. The MedAngel sensor saves temperature history over a maximum of 7 days so can easily store the history for several hours of daycare.

Do I need an internet connection for the app to function?  
No internet connection is required for the app to function since the sensor and the app are connected via Bluetooth

Can I track multiple medications with one sensor?
If you are keeping multiple medications in one place, you can attribute them to one sensor in the app and the MedAngelONE app will give you medication-based notifications.
If you keep medicines in different locations, for example, in-use insulin that you carry around with you, and the main stock is in the fridge at home you will need two sensors if you wish to track both the in-use and fridge medicine. When setting up the different sensors give them a name such as Insulin Case and Fridge, set use mode (carrying or storing medication) and select the medications. You can change all of these anytime later on.

Can I connect multiple phones to one sensor?
MedAngel sensor should be paired with one phone only, connecting it to two phones is not recommended. The sensor broadcasts temperature data via Bluetooth, and the closest phone will receive it. This means that data might be end up scattered across two different phones.

Can I use MedAngel in cool bags?
Yes! The sensor is waterproof and can therefore also be used with water-activated cool bags, such as Frio bags.

Can I use MedAngel on flights?
Yes, you can use MedAngel on most flights, because the sensor uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone. Bluetooth connections are allowed with most airlines. Simply activate airplane/flight safe mode in the settings on your phone and then enable Bluetooth. This way, MedAngel will monitor your meds during your flight as well.

Which permissions does the app need on my phone? 
The app needs to be allowed to run in the background. The app will update temperature automatically and give alarms if it is too high or low. In order to do that, it needs to be able to work even when it is not opened on your phone at the moment. Every mobile phone is programmed to save battery and will automatically try to close every app that is not used actively. To prevent that: on iPhone: don’t close MedAngel manually (by swiping up the screen when checking which apps are open) on Android phones: allow the app to run in the background in your phone’s battery settings
